Whooopeee! Able to log in! I'm in the process of creating a new blog.......don't know if it will REPLACE this one or just be another one......I must be crazy. This other place I've been working in; pitas.com, unless you know how to work magic, you can't have a comment feature on your blog. I put tagboard but I think people tend to comment in the "comments" place more. I'm not telling you where this place is yet; haven't decided if I'm keeping it or going with enjoydiary. I already set up a photo blog there. I kind of like it; plus it automatically has comments there and you can upload images right to it! I'll keep ya updated!!! P.S. I gotta thank granni for checking these places out before I even bothered with them. She did a check on a whole list of places I emailed to her.........thanks GRANNI!!!!!

I'm wondering if my sidebar over there is getting too filled up. Is that possible? I have lots of links, thoughts, a few lists, and other stuff there. Personally, I like to visit a site that has lots of stuff to see and lots of places to go visit. I've found some pretty neat stuff from my blog-surfing! I guess I'll keep everything the way it is. What I MIGHT do one day is change the colors, etc. on this blog. We'll just see about that. Lots of work for me; none for you! I just had that thought as I was adding yet another link to the left-hand column..........just had to share.

What, or where, would you most like to explore, for no reason other than simply to learn about it? Would you want to visit a specific place? Or is the subject of your exploration something more academic? Assume that money is no object and that you have absolute freedom to travel where you wish, if travel is involved.
Hmmmmmmm........my mind is not in the "thinking mode" right now, but I will attempt to come up with something. If I could explore some place, I would like to explore some great big mountain; no, not mountain climbing........don't want to attempt that. I would have to get up on top of that mountain a different way. I just want to be ON a mountain some day and maybe explore the whole world around it. Wouldn't that be a great view???

Bright and early, I decided to answer today's Random Questions.......Hey, anytime you feel like just popping over to this place, there's a new question just about every day! You don't have to answer them all; but check it out and see if it's something you may want to blog about. OR, short and sweet answers are allowed too! Three of us help run that place and not only can you find questions to blog about, you can find all kinds of links to places there. And if you click on "bloggerseeds friends," you can add your own link! We're not asking for money like some people do; just a quick 'hello' or some mark of your's so we know you were there. There's even a place to add your favorite recipes! That's my *plug* for the day; well, at least this morning.......on to today's question:
With summer fast approaching, how about sharing some of your favorite summer time activities?
Some of my favorite summertime activities include visiting any place that we can take a nice stroll, for instance Dow Gardens is one of them. We would have gone last weekend but the weather was just not cooperating! I like to visit my parents' cabin on occasion, and just go outdoors and enjoy the beautiful OUTDOORS! Last year we went to the Binder Zoo in Battle Creek. That was nice; lots of animals and a good place to take a walk. I love walking. If I could walk wherever I go, I would. (Ok, maybe not. I suppose I could walk to work every day in the summer but I don't. Of course, that may have something to do with the fact that I get up just in time to get ready to go to work and drive there!) To sum it all up; any outdoors thing in the summer is my idea of a great summer activity.

I have a complaint..........I understand that we are allowed to exercise our "freedom of speech" right, and I think that's 'all good.' Matter of fact, I think it's great!! BUT, what bothers me is when I see the "f" word in every other sentence! Why?? Why do people feel the need to use that word so openly; I saw it used as an adjective for GOD!!! I'm sure the writer did not mean to use it that way, but if you know the rules, you know that in the following phrase, "Oh my __________ God." that the word we would put where the underline is, is an adjective. It appalls me! I don't like books, movies, or songs with that word used excessively; I've now added blogs to that list. Sorry! On second thought, no I'm not sorry. I don't think that word needs to be used so freely. Let's try to expand our vocabulary and use a different word in its place, eh? I may sound like a prude or not; I don't care. My father used to tell us that people who use swear words a lot have a limited vocabulary. I agree! Some of the blogs I've visited have been very attractive; nice design, good content; but with the use of that word, it really takes from my desire to go visit it again. There are SO many words we could use instead of that one. AND keep in mind, kids read this stuff!! Enough said.............

Oh my gosh! Did you ever fall asleep for a bit in the evening and wake up thinking it was morning???? I just did that. I just woke up to the phone ringing and answered it thinking, "Who is callling me at 7:15 a.m.????" I'm rushing this person off the phone, looking at the clock, and saying to her, "I gotta get ready!" The funny thing is she never asked me why I had to get ready. It wasn't until I was off the phone that I realized it was 7:15 P.M!!!! Duh! It's pretty funny though cuz it's just about as light out at 7:15 a.m. as it is at 7:15 p.m. right now and it's really dreary and raining so how was I supposed to know??

I just HAVE to tell you about last night. (I may even entertain you with the details leading up to it!) Yes, first chance to do this........believe it or not. My daughter just finished her 8th grade year at a Catholic school and last night was the Mass and dinner. First of all, we knew about this since the first day of school so there was really no excuse for last minute stuff. BUT being the "mother of the year" that I am (and the fact that I must have missed out on the 'shopping gene' when they were handing them out to almost every other woman out there), and a bit of a procrastinator (did I say a BIT??), it all came together pretty much last minute. Anyway, I knew she wanted her hair done and her nails done. No, not a big nail thing; just a manicure. The hair? She's got very long hair; thick, curly, basically unmanagable. Well, I put a lot of thought into who we would call for the hair and as far as the nails, I was going to tell her to just file them and put nail polish on them. We wake up Monday morning and I started making phone calls. I called a girl that goes to the same church as we do (she's been doing nails for 15 years) and asked her if she had any time to do my kid's nails. She didn't even hesitate. "Yes, just let me know what time works for you best." Yeah!! One down, one to go! Oh, I'd like you to know that we went shopping last Friday and finally found a dress. I told her we weren't stopping until we found one. We went down to a neighbor's house Sunday night to have her hem it up. Done at 11:30 p.m!! The nails were done by 2:00 p.m. Monday. About 3:15 we went to a friend's daughter's house, and HER friend (who is a licensed beautician) was there and did her hair. Home by 4:00! Talk about luck! Anyway, the Mass was nice, the dinner could have had a little more flavoring, the speeches could have been cut in half (or more) but overall it was a good evening. Her grandma and grandpa were there to celebrate with us. (Thank you Grandpa and Grandma!) After the Mass, they handed out certificates stating that the kid completed 8th grade at XXXXX School and we all knew she was getting one of those. What we didn't know was that she received a "President's Education Awards Program" certificate for outstanding academic achievement as well; signed by our president!! (Yes, THE president!) This means she maintained a 3.5 cumulative gpa from 4th grade all the way through 8th grade!! I'm SO proud!!! I've bragged; I'm happy. Goodnight.

I've been LOOKING for places that have nice icons to use on my blinkies; and thanks to annie, who has listed the places she's used for icons/smilies for her blinkies, I now have a few more places to grab them from. I've made some of my own icons, etc. in PSP, but I'm not talented enough to create everything from scratch, so I search for them and as long as they're not copyrighted, I know I can use them. Ok, now I have a new plan for today; work on my new blog AND make some blinkies.

"Heads up. Over the next couple weeks, we will be moving people over to a new version of Blogger. It's basically the same as the old one but should work better. So if things look different one day, don't be too surprised." Well, I'm here to tell you that the 'new' version of blogger is not "better" than the old one. Because I'm thinking of changing my look, I signed up for a new blog (I have a plan) and they only have about 6 templates to choose from (versus a dozen and a half or so from the old version) and you have to click more things in order to publish your blog; then when you want to view your page, it comes up in the bottom half of your screen. So to view your page the way it really looks, you have to open a new window and just type in the url. My opinion? NOT better! Maybe for them! On to some brighter thoughts: If you've been reading my blog recently, you know that my stepson, who is a Marine and was overseas just a couple of weeks ago, is now done with his duty. Then I blogged about the whole party thing..........which, by the way, my daughter and I did NOT show up for. (My stepson knew why; that's all that matters.) He came over to visit us last night. We had a really nice chat (about 3 hours.) He's got to go back to N.C. for a week, he'll be back home for 10 days, back to N.C. for about 3 weeks, then back home for good. He'll be moving out of this area though, to attend college somewhere else. That's ok too. I think he needs to do that in order to get out from under his sister's possessive, controlling ways. Not to mention that the girl he is with (AND plans on marrying) could not put up with that crap for very long. I'm happy for him and I hope he does go to college; just coming out of the service, most of it will be paid for I guess. He's got no reason NOT to go! Have a great Sunday! My plans for today? Working on my new project..........and probably going out to get some sunshine! It's actually sunny out today! Yeah!

I have been putting some serious thought into changing my blog look. I've been to a few blogs lately that have inspired this idea: granni, connie, annie, la diosa, windy , and allie; just to name a few. I'm just ITCHING to change my look! But that means changing a whole lot of other stuff too. Do I want to take the time to do it? I think I'm ready for a change so I think the answer to that question is yes. It's worth the time. What inspires people to change the look of their site?? Maybe the same thing that inspires people to rearrange furniture in their homes? I just haven't felt like blogging today......don't know why really. I found out that my stepson is coming home tonight for the weekend and has to be back to North Carolina by Monday. I don't know how long he'll be there, but he's basically done; no more obligation to go overseas. The 'family' is having a big shindig for him; of course the big sister is involved in that one. She's the one making the phone calls (to everyone he's ever met once in his life) and even rented a sign to put out by the road; you know, one of those big signs that lights up? From what I understand, she's invited EVERYONE in the family. Oh, I think she forgot to include her little sister again; an oversight? I doubt it. (what a good subject for last week's photo friday challenge: 'overlooked.') It's not that I wanted to drag my kid out there; it's just the point that her own sister can never include her in anything. THAT'S why my daughter did not invite her big "sister" to her graduation dinner. And it was from no influence on my part either. My kid has a mind of her own and the only sibling she wanted to invite to her graduation dinner can't make it because he'll be on his way back to North Carolina that day. Yeah, I know it's a step-family thing but these people are actually blood-related! I guess that brings a quote I blogged about a while ago to mind: "Treat your friends like family, and your family like friends." Some people don't even know what the true meaning of a friend is! (Well, I thought I didn't feel like blogging; I lied.) Anyway, I'm going to try to see my stepson this weekend at some point, at least so he can see his little sister. A lot of people have been getting on my nerves lately it seems. I guess the older I get, the more I see people for who they are. It's not always a pretty sight. I DO try to see the good in people; I really do. But when that good is buried so deep under the bad, I just don't feel like wasting my time searching for it. It's just sad that a young lady my daughter's age can't even look up to her older sister as a role model. That's ok too because she's got all kinds of role models on my side of the family. Enough, enough............on to some memes.

Random Questions; Random Days
The rainforests are important to the earth's ecological balance. What are some things we can do to help preserve the rainforest?
The first thing that came to mind when I read this question was that I bought t-shirts from "Human-I-Tees" a few years ago. I guess a percentage of the profit from the t-shirt sales goes to helping save the rainforests. I'm not sure exactly what's all involved in preserving our rainforests, but I think recycling helps. I do recycle. So, please don't think I'm less than intelligent after reading my answer. Hey, at least I answered it!

Todays idea comes from a calendar called "Bright Ideas, 365 Creative Thinking Activities"
We've all heard the saying, "You are what you eat." What if that saying suddenly came true! What possible problems might be created, or on another note, what might be some humorous changes that might occur?
I would be scaring people off the street! I can't decide if I would be a big dorito or a big ol' round bagel........actually I do eat salads on a regular basis so maybe I'd be a chef salad! Can you imagine a bunch of food items walking the streets? We sure wouldn't be able to lie about what we had for dinner.......hey, that would be kind of interesting; you change into whatever it is you ate last. I bet we'd be a bit more careful of what we put into our mouths! The problems that could occur? You would not know what you friiends would look like from day to day. But you sure would know what they ate!

Yipppeeee! Templates are working! I was just about to post this and then decided to call my Mom first cuz I was so excited. She told me she thought they were working earlier and changed something in her template and it never took. That was earlier in the afternoon.........I changed something just now and it published it. Now I feel obligated to make the changes I was wanting to make yesterday. (Do I have enough time?) I don't garden anymore just because I don't really have the space to do it. Fresh grown stuff is DEFINITELY better! That is one advantage; the other is that you can go right outside your door and pick whatever it is you want to eat! Oh, plus it's WAY cheaper! Flowers? I DO plant flowers around here. They brighten up the yard and it makes me happy.

Is anybody else having the same problem as I am with blogger? First, my template was blank when I went there and now it has all the old stuff on it. Two of my blog pages have this message: "Sorry, your template was not found on the server. If you just created this blog, click the "choose a new template" link above and select your template again. If you continue to recieve this message (or this is not a new blog), please try back later and/or contact support@blogger.com." Ain't that grand?!?!? So, this means I cannot change anything right now. I'm not real happy. You know, I've been thinking about changing blog places; maybe this is the time to do it? That would suck though, cuz I would have to change all my links, etc. Let me know if you're having the same problem.....

I participated in photo friday yesterday, thanks to granni, who decided to participate first. It was pretty interesting. I think I'll continue......didn't take MY photo until around midnight but it's there nonetheless. Oh, wanna know where you can find it? here...........the rest of that blog so far is just my 'average day' for the MayDay Project. I decided (also with granni's help) that I will keep that blog for a 'photoblog.' Cool idea, eh? I'm using the new blogger layout/template thingy they're trying to go to; it takes some getting used to but I already learned a new thing. It's funny how you use the same codes a lot and when you run into something unfamiliar, it's a bit discouraging. But between my daughter and me, we figured it out. Okay.......gotta go shopping for the kid soon. Tomorrow we will be in Muskegon for my nephew's recital. I'm looking forward to hearing him play the piano. He's GOOD!!! I think for the most part I am joyful. I always try to think positive and when I think positive, positive things seem to happen. I try to look on the bright side of things; look at the good in people (don't get me wrong, it doesn't always work); you'd be amazed how one's attitude can change how we view the world and how we view our own lives.......therefore either bringing more joy to ourselves or less joy..........we have a choice.

I just check out the 'shout out' box at random questions; random days cuz I participated and put my comment up; found someone else who participated as well and I always like to check out other people's answers so I clicked on her link. By the way, her name is annie. I read through some of her posts and found out that she recently moved her whole blog to a different place. While I was there, I found some neat links; one of them being tilemachine. You gotta check it out! You can draw little things pixel by pixel. It gives you all the colors to choose from and you click on a color and click on a pixel and it puts it there! It's really cool! I haven't saved mine yet, but it said you could save it for future use as a background, a wallpaper, etc. I'm going to add the link to my list of faves soon! Thanks annie! Now, back to more fun!!

Guess what I did all weekend? Well, not ALL weekend, but SOME of it; I made some blog signs and some blinkies. I need a life! To be honest with you, it was fun. I did other things too. I mean, I didn't just sit here at the computer and create things all weekend. But I was kind of excited cuz I figured out how to make a new kind of blinkie. You can see it over there to the left; the 'blinkies and butterflies' one. Ain't it cool? (don't get your undies in a bunch all you English majors out there.) That's the way I talk sometimes........don't you? I was also excited because I checked out pariah's meme list and saw that Random Questions; Random Days is on there now! Yeah!!! I almost mispelled 'random' and made it 'ransom.' OOOPS!! "ransom questions".....not a very appealing name. BUT tha's not the name of it, so go check it out. There's a question almost every day to answer. It's fun! PLUS, you can find all kinds of ideas to blog about, links to 'blog extras' and even an interactive forum. AND you can add your site to their list! What better way to get your blog out there to be seen, eh???? I did it! Ok. I just spent some time "surfin' blogs" and I found some very interesting sites. But two of them stand out above the rest. I love to see lots of links on people's blogs. The other thing I like to find is lots of useful code info. I was at bryn's place and first of all, I saw that she added a link to my blinkies site. Thanks so much! BUT, she has all kinds of links on her page (matter of fact, that's how I found the second site I'm going to share with you.) You should go check out her site. It's really neat. The other site I found; mandarin design; has lots of codes for bloggers. I LOVE to find cool codes! It has a bunch of other stuff I found interesting too. So go pay that place a visit if you're doing some 'blog surfing.' (I blogrolled them both so you can find them WAY down at the bottom of the left-hand column here.) I may write another tutorial this weekend. I have to have some hours to spare because I don't want to start it and not be able to finish it all in one sitting. It takes concentration. I don't bite my nails; I don't shake my leg; I don't know if I have a nervous habit. None that I can think of. How do I relieve stress? I don't know.....(this is a hard question. wah, wah, wah.) I don't have any little 'wierd' habits but it's not to say I don't have any habits. I do. I'm going to answer the question for today now, ok?

Friday May 16! I found the following quote in my daily calendar. There is no author noted, but I thought it would be a good thought to comment on. So...
"Of all best things upon the earth, a faithful friend is the best." Write a bit about your best friend, how did you become friends, etc...
My best friend? I don't have too many "friends." I have lots of aquaintances, but few true friends. But I'm not complaining; just stating a fact. My best "friend" (not in the family) is a woman I met about 14 years ago. We went to the same church and the pastor 'stuck' us in the same faith-sharing group. She later told me that she did not want to be in the group with us because of some things she had heard about me. (my stepdaughter has a big mouth and she can be kind of a 'problem.') Well, we were put in the same faith-sharing group despite her feelings about it. We used to meet at her house (because her husband was disabled and it was easier to meet there so we could include him) once a month and talk about religious stuff. Some of her so-called friends abandoned her after her husband got hurt (didn't know how to "deal with it.") I never knew him before he got hurt and even if I did, I wouldn't have abandoned her and him. Ok, back to the faith-sharing group thing: Actually, it was kind of fun and interesting. We kept our group together until we got news that our church was going to merge with four other churches and become one parish. It was a difficult transition, but through it, we kept our faith and we got to be good friends. Her husband died a few years ago and she has since remarried and divorced. I am friends with her still today and probably always will be. We don't always agree on thigns; matter of fact we don't agree on a lot of things, but we support each other and respect each other. I guess the thing about friends is you should be able to tell them what you think without worrying if they are going to get mad and vice versa.
That was a good thought to blog about.

Isn't THAT the truth!?!?! Of course this is unfortunate, but I think true. p.s. found this at blogger seeds. Although I'm not a 'student' I can relate to that statement. As bookkeeper of the parish I work for, I am required to attend workshops, meetings, etc. periodically. In my case, I try to take it all in......but it's obvious to me during the meeting that several others have a different agenda: i.e. to just fulfill their obligation and get out! How do I know this? Because throughout the whole meeting, there are always people talking amongst themselves. I could never understand that; I'm there in hopes of actually learning something! This would not be under my 'useless meetings' category (you can find that under "pet peeves" on the left-hand side of my blog here.) AND I think this statement is referring to students (whose parents are probably paying for their education) sitting in class taking notes while the teacher lectures. Notes, notes, notes; it can get old awfully fast, but there's a reason for all this! I know! I've been there! Ok. Looking for a moral? (so am I.) LISTEN to your teachers! Don't just HEAR! Random Questions; Random Days
Today's question ... How do you like to spend your down time? What would your dream vacation be?
Lately I spend my down-time on the computer.....I love doing stuff on the computer. I'm actually working on a new project right now. I'll post it when I have enough done to post. My dream vacation? I haven't been anywhere 'exotic' so I couldn't even guess where I would think the "ideal" place would be, but it would definitely be somewhere by the water! I love the water; there's just something about it that is serene, especially at sunset. And of course it would have to be a place where I could relax if I wanted to, go site-seeing if I wanted to........

I'm happy to say that my friend is doing fine. Sorry about the whining. I am not the most patient person in the world (far from it really.) If you know that, you will appreciate this more......I got a call from my friend who lives 5 houses down the street last night saying, "It's happening again." I knew exactly what she was talking about because for the last three weeks they've been doing every allergy test they can think of to try and figure out what caused her allergic reaction three weeks ago. It wasn't just your average allergic reaction. The last time she had this happen, she was at work (at the hospital) and she got all red, puffy, itchy, and her blood pressure went all the way down to 50 over something. Kind of scary. So they have her one of those kits that she had to have with her at all times in case it happened again. She gave herself the shot and we SPED to the hospital. She says, "Now if I pass out....." I interrupted her, "Hey, before you pass out, tell me exactly what I have to do cuz I am useless otherwise." She said, "Just get me to the hospital." "I can do that," I said. The hospital is only five minutes away (given good conditions) thank God. We get there and they took all her vital signs, etc. You know the procedure. THEN put her on a bed and wheeled her into the hallway because they had no rooms available. We were out there for 2 hours. (A half hour after being there, she appeared to be doing fine.) They finally put her in a room and we waited another hour for the doctor to come and take a look at her. When they finally released her at 10:15 p.m. (remember I have NO patience!) they gave her a prescription for the same kit that she had to shoot herself with. We proceeded to go to the nearest drugstore and found out they didn't have any of what she needed. (oh, boy!) That drugstore called another drugstore and this one said they had them. Well, the only drugstore open at 10:30 at night is halfway across town. We stopped at my house so I could tell my kid to wait up for me; I'd be home in less than a half hour. We get to the drugstore and they tell us we have to WAIT 20 minutes! (By this time I'm really having fun!) Anyway, we finally got the stuff, I dropped her off and went home (11:35 p.m.) I was glad to help her out; no question about that. But I was a tad bit upset with the fact that it burned my whole evening and my kid was sitting home all evening by herself. She wasn't bothered by it as much as I was. So, I had to check out some blogs, email, etc.; finally got to bed at 2:00 a.m. Got up this morning bright and early (6:15 a.m.) and actually funtioned fine at work! My friend is doing fine and she thinks she knows now what caused the horrible allergic reaction that she had a few weeks ago. Maybe they'll let her go back to work this weekend.

Random Questions.......Random Days Yeah! I'm glad this was picked to be a random day!

Do you like games? If so, what kind, video, board, online, online interactive? Why?
I LIKE games! There is only one video game that my daughter has that I've been able to get into and it's old now but I still like it. That's "Mario Party 3." We both play at the same time (well, take turns.) But I haveen't really tried any of her new games so I could be liking some of those too. The other kind I like is those hand-held games. I got hooked on "Yahtzee" once and challenged myself to beat my high score; I have others too. Too many to name, but those are fun too when you don't have someone to play a game with. As far as computer games go; I have this program that has about 200 solitaire games on it but I only usually play about 3 of them. Those are good to play for some 'down time.' Internet games? I used to go to pogo all the time and play "Sweet Tooth" and "Solitaire" but I don't go there much anymore. I blog and work on websites now. But I still enjoy them. I really like playing games with other people too. Games we like to play: "Uno" ~ "Cranium" ~ "Catch Phrase" ~ "Skip-Bo"; just to name a few. Games are a good way to spend time with your family/friends. Good question!

So much blogging to do; SO late at night (actually it's morning). AND that brings me to another point. I've already started my 'MayDay Project.' See, it's really Saturday, May 10th right now. I did notice my camera is off by about a half hour. Don't know how THAT happened. ANYWAY, I'm excited! I'm excited for more reasons than one. First of all, I wrote my first tutorial today on my bravenet site. I did it all this afternoon (and it was NOT easy either!) and I did it in Microsoft Word. Well, I wasn't quite sure how I was going to transfer the tutorial from Word to my website (outside of copying and pasting all the text and adding bold tags, etc.) so I tried something. I figured, "Hey, what do I have to lose?" Of course I saved it as a word doc first but I then saved it as a web page. Then I clicked on 'view as html' (or something similar to that) and it showed me the html code for the page! I don't own my domain space so I had to upload all images to my free server and change the name to all of them but it was really quite simple. (I do have one image at the bottom that won't show; don't know why.) All I am asking is if anyone is looking for a blinkie tutorial, to go to my site and try it. I need to know if it's easy to follow. Please let me know if you've tried it and what you think. Second, I'm excited about the MayDay Project. BUT, my life is pretty ho-hum, boring, so I am trying to think of things we can do tomorrow that won't give that away. I guess we're supposed to just be 'normal' and take pics every hour no matter what we are doing. I just charged up my camera batteries and formatted a memory stick so I have plenty of space to take pics on. I'm READY! It'll be interesting to see what other people took pics of. I highly doubt I will take a picture of me waking up in the morning. eeeewwwww! That could scare you away! I just went to read my seeester's blog and couldn't believe how many entries I've missed. The oldest person that I know that is still alive is my grandmother (on my Mom's side.) She's (I think) 87. And she's quite active. But I know this question implies it's someone that has passed because it is in the past tense. BUT I wanted to answer it this way too. So, there's my answer.

While I was searching for the meaning of my name; which, by the way, means "Born on Christmas Day" I came upon a very interesting site: dumb laws. You can find laws from any state at this site. I was laughing when I read one law in Michigan: "It is illegal for a woman to cut her own hair without her husband's permission." Is that funny or what??? They even have city laws listed there and one I thought was particularly interesting was, "It is illegal in Detroit for a husband to scowl at his wife on Sunday." Ya just gotta check that site out. It's pretty funny. Just wanted to share.......

Had a great weekend at my sister's house scrapbooking.............ended my Easter break with a lazy, do-nothing Sunday. Back to work today...........but I had a great break! I'm in the middle of a major photo project but I just had to blog about tonight's Survivor episode. So if you didn't watch it yet and you have it on tape for later, stop reading NOW! Cuz you're going to know who got kicked off by the time you read the end of this.....................................................(all content here is the opinion of me and none of this is quoted from the show.) Still there? Well, I guess you've seen the show then. On to my feelings about this week's episode. First of all, let me tell you that I think Jenna is a royal 'you-know-what' and I'm not quite sure why she's still on. Oh, that's right; she uses her 'sex appeal' to get what she wants (translation: she's a 'ho'). I must say, at the beginning of the show when the four of them (Rob, Alex, Heidi and Jenna) were "basking in the sun" while the other three people were working, I was ticked. How arrogant! Then they show Matthew (who I wasn't a big fan of) and Butch (who I had no opinion about really) fishing. They're talking about getting Rob on their side so they can knock off the 'fearsome foursome' one by one (which would become the 'gruesome threesome' if their plan worked. Wait, it would become the ho'some twosome!) But let's not forget the reward challenge....I am so glad Christy won the bid for the letter cuz I think out of all the people on that particular Survivor show, she is the most sincere. AND she was kind enough to allow another letter to be auctioned (which Jenna ended up winning.) She was crying so hard and ended up getting what she wanted thanks to the kind heart of a person she wouldn't give the time of day to. Isn't that amazing? So next thing ya know, Rob takes Matthew aside and tells him he has to have a talk with him. He wants to confide in him about what's going on on the 'greener side of the pasture.' At this point, I'm going "Whoo hoo! Yeah for Rob!" I would like nothing better than to see Jenna, Heidi and Alex kicked off first (and in that order.) Let's skip to the immunity challenge: First of all, I'm sure Jenna won't go home with a complex about being the most popular vote for "who uses their sex appeal to get what they want?" and "who could never survive on their own?" because I think she's flattered by it............well, Rob wins immunity and is now wondering if he should vote for Alex (what's in his heart to do, I think) or to vote for Matthew (because the other three people who thought were on the same side, will eventually end up in the jury and not vote for him if he ends up to be one of the last two people left.) I was really thinking he'd vote for Matthew cuz he didn't want those other people to know that he betrayed them. But he voted for Alex; oh, what a shock (to Heidi, Jenna, and Alex!) You go Rob! Now it's 4 against 2! Oooh, how the tables can turn so quickly. I hope the final four will be Christy, Rob, Butch and Matthew..............we shall see..........

I can't believe I'm finally taking on this project...............one that I should have started a LONG time ago.....................you're probably wondering what I'm talking about, eh? Ok, I'll cut to the chase; I have owned a digital camera for almost 3 years and I have saved every picture I've ever taken to cd's (minus a whole summer lost because of some dumb thing I did.) I have cd's everywhere with pictures on them.....some are logically labeled; others aren't. (I really must give credit to my father for me doing this because he is SO organized that I actually offered to pay him to organize my digital photos; his rates were too high.) :) I've been saying I'm going to do this "one day" but of course there is no day in my life that I really wanted to tackle a job this huge. Today I finally decided that if I didn't do it this week, I would probably not do it for a very long time. So far, I have about 30 folders (labeled by date and subject) on my hard drive and I've only gone through one cd and all the pictures that were already on my hard drive. I have LOTS more to do............but it's a start. I even have pictures saved two or three different places under different names because I was unsure whether I had saved them already. WHEN I get all my pictures saved in folders on my hard drive I will create new cd's. Of course I'll keep the old ones because it's always a good idea to save your photos in more than one place. Anyway, that's what I've been up to today..............how 'bout you?

P.S. The project that I blogged about a few days ago that I was going to try to implement this week; ain't gonna happen. THIS is more important right now.

Ok. What will I do with this word? I am going to try to use it in another poem............

I was walking to Jericho one cold, winter night.
When suddenly a cat jumped out at me and gave me a fright!

I immediately turned around to look for the strange noise,
But I saw nothing, and felt I must regain my poise.

The cat said to me, "Jericho; do you know where that's at?"
I replied with a start, "Don't really care. I need to get there, you cat!"

I made it to Jericho that night just as planned.
And the cat came along with me; the journey was grand.

I made it to my destination; my journey finally came to an end.
I realized the cat that followed me turned out to be my friend.

The word of the day is.................blighty. I have no idea what it means.........but I can use it in a sentence; maybe a poem.

The other day when I was walking, I started feeling flighty.
But when I returned to my desk at work, my mood quickly changed to blighty.

"Blighty?" my boss asked me as I desperately tried to explain,
"Yes, blighty," I responded and was told to go home again.

So, if you're having a rough day at work and don't know what to do,
Tell your boss you're feeling blighty and she'll let you go home too!

My Easter Break has officially begun! Yeah! I went into work today at 7:00 a.m. and worked until 4:30 p.m. The past couple of weeks has been very busy; probably the busiest time of the year for the church. But well worth the extra work for a week off! Yeah! (oh, I already said that.)

I wanted to share some news I received yesterday evening about Miguel. He is 100 miles south of Baghdad; sitting in the middle of the desert (playing cards); waiting; bored; weather is hot and dusty in the daylight hours; cold in the evening. His troop is not involved in any fighting. He's hoping to be back on ship in mid-May and HOPEFULLY home by mid-June. This news was shared with me by his girlfriend, whom he was able to call at 3:00 a.m. yesterday morning. Keep praying for him and all the troops!

I LOVE that quote! (got it at blogger seeds.) Hmmmmmmm............let me reflect on that a bit. I always try to save some of my work for tomorrow because I just don't feel like doing it all in one day. The best days are the days with a good balance of work and play. I have to work on my personal balance some, but for the most part, I do a pretty good job of it. When I have deadlines to meet, I DO meet them. But even then, I tend to put things off until I decide I can put them off no longer. (or is that what we call 'procrastination') Either way, the work rarely gets done all in one day. I'm so glad I have a new way to look at it now. I used to feel BAD because I didn't have all my work done in one day. But you know what? The work will be there tomorrow, and if you DO all your work in one day, there will STILL be more to do tomorrow. blah, blah, blah.......................Moral of the story: Make time in each day to have some fun!

What goes around comes around:
Let's just say that when you think you might be doing something to deliberately hurt someone else; think again! It just may end up back-firing. We all know people who are constantly manipulating situations in order to hurt someone else and at the same time, they come out 'smelling like a rose.' When I see this happen, I always wonder how it is that they can keep getting away with it and no one ever catches on to what's really going on. Well, I'm here to tell you; there's no need to take matters into your own hands. Eventually, what goes around DOES come around. I know someone who makes a career out of manipulating situations to make herself look good by trying to make others look bad. But this time, she was hurt by her own manipulations. Don't get me wrong; I'm not the type of person that likes to see someone get hurt. What I DO like to see is people getting a 'taste of their own medicine.' I have found that it isn't always the easiest or the most rewarding to be honest and sincere; but never lower yourself to someone else's level to act in a way that goes against your morals; no matter how much it hurts; just to put them in their place. Things will work themselves out..........(I just had to get that out.)

I was just thinking how dumb 'normal' sounds when you look at how I'm feeling (over to the left.) I couldn't find 'so-so' or 'okay' or 'a little bit of this; a little bit of that' so I had to choose 'normal.' I know, you're thinking "Normal? Otto??" I'm beginning to wonder the same thing myself. I just spent the last couple of hours finishing up the guestmap page for Monday Madness and the list of people participating. Of course you're never done building a website. But those two pages need major help! I didn't want to neglect this site because of them, so here I am.........bloggin' away! And I have so much work I should be doing........a resume for someone, a brochure for someone else, a flyer for someone else, and my own work here at home. But that's not as much fun as this, so I (being the procrastinator that I am) just figure, "I'll do that other stuff tomorrow." Why is it that when you're doing something you love to do for free, it's fun. When you start getting requests for stuff that you do (see above) for people that are willing to pay you, it becomes a job. Is it the pressure? I mean, if I were designing a flyer for myself, I wouldn't have to worry if 'so and so' like it. If I liked it, I would go with it. But when you're doing something like that for someone else, you wonder what they're going to think of your work. One of the jobs I have to work on is creating a brochure for a nursing home and I don't feel confident about doing it. I don't know why. Maybe because we don't ever want to let anyone down....?? Well, enough rambling, but first, let me point you once again to another great site that I have bookmarked: Blogger Seeds. This place has so many ideas, you'd have to blog twice a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year to use them all! Go there! While you're at it, leave a comment. Siglet of the Moment

Now that's a pessimistic way to look at life! I saw this 'siglet' on Blogger Seeds and just had to comment on it. I don't agree with it and I would change it to read: "If everything seems to be going well, enjoy!" I just woke up from a 'nap' that lasted from 10:30 to 11:00 p.m. hmmmmmmmm........Now I'm WIDE awake! I thought I'd blog for a bit and now I'm sitting in front of my computer and can't think of a thing to say.......but I do have some questions in mind for Monday Madness. Did you remember to turn your clocks forward one hour last night?? I did, and it sure makes for a short sleep! I made myself get up this morning at the usual 'Sunday time' and I can tell that I'm up too early. My clock now says 8:53 a.m. and I can tell it's only 7:53 a.m. And did you ever notice how it takes longer to adjust to losing an hour than it does to gaining an hour? I think it may be all in my head, but it takes a couple of days for me to really believe the time is correct after changing our clocks in the Spring. At least the sun is shining this morning and MOST of the roads are dry (after two days of freezing rain and snow.) Gotta see if I can come up with a nice design for another page of mine....................later!

I am very careful of what words I display on my t-shirts. As I've gotten a little older, I wear less and less words. I think that quote is quite cute, although I wouldn't want anyone 'guessing' what my problem is..............What bothers me is to see these young kids wearing sweatpants with words on their butts! You can bet you would never find anything written on my rear!

About this weather once again!
I just went outside to stand in the freezing rain coming down. I took pictures of the trees this morning and I will take pictures tomorrow morning. It is April 4th and Michigan is getting freezing rain! I guess I should be happy we have power here, huh? (quit complaining otto!)

I just played my games at field of dreams and I couldn't get past 11 on the first game, but I won the second game in just 14 moves! Yeah! I got a little messag: "You win after just 14 moves! Now see if you can do better." Huh. I thought that was good! I don't know if I could do it again but I'll probably try.

This weather! What's up with it??? I don't like it; I don't like it; I don't like it! Make it go away! If I do end up staying home tomorrow (I hope not), I HAVE to do something with my faves page. I don't know why I put a wintry background on it. Now I have to change it. (Actually, today it is appropriate.) My advice: Don't use "seasonal" backgroundd for websites. It'll take me a while to change too because I have a snowflake bar that I used to separate all my links. That's what I get.....(dumb 'ol otto.) But hey, I just made myself cooler, and you can too if you go to flooble. There's all kinds of cool stuff there. (Note: Gotta add that link to Blogger Seeds.) Speaking of Blogger Seeds, have you visited it? It's definitely worth checking. Anyway, back to the "cooler" subject, I had to laugh tonight when I was scrolling down my page and a little past my "I am cooler" banner is a box that tells me I'm a geek! Can you be a cool geek? I'm going to brag.............I know; we all have kids we're proud of. Well, I think we should make it known (especially to them, but others too) so here I go.

Yesterday when I got home from work, my daughter handed me an award that she received that day at school. It was "Student of the Month." Now, you may think this is 'no big deal.' (I only say that because I wasn't aware of how this school decided who receives 'Student of the Month' awards. Her last school handed them out to everyone who didn't receive behavior tickets for that month. Whooppee.......) Of course I was happy for her and let her know it. I asked her how they decide who gets student of the month awards and she told me only one student from each grade receives one each month. Well, that holds a little more weight! Today I got a letter in the mail from her school stating that my daughter would be receiving an award at their monthly assembly "coming up soon." I asked her when the assembly was; she said it was yesterday. It was then that I noticed the letter was dated March 17; the envelope was postmarked April 1. hmmmmmm........I am very proud of her and I let her know it. One important factor that plays into this whole story is the fact that her teacher has made comments about the "St. J's" kids not knowing how to follow rules; comments that have hurt these kids. And yet somehow, my kid still managed to earn an award that cleary says otherwise......Good going Alex! I'm proud of you and your Christian values and your study habits! Keep up the great work and the great attitude!

I'm pretty excited...........just checked my email and I was invited to a "by invitation only" webring. As some of you know, I started Monday Madness (where you will answer three questions every Monday) and I was really excited about it. I recently started participating in a few of the 'questions blogs' (aka memes) and I thought they were pretty entertaining. I found myself looking forward to the questions for the following week..............weird, eh? Anyway, that's what got me thinking about starting one myself. I even stayed up till all hours of the night (literally) creating a banner for it and finding a counter, etc. Believe me, when I say I was excited, I mean it. So I thought I'd invite a few people that I didn't know, to participate in Monday Madness. I received an email this afternoon from a woman who runs This or That Tuesday inviting me to join a webring exclusively for those types of blogs/sites. Of course, I joined! If you haven't visited Monday Madness yet this week, it's not too late to post your answers. "Productive" is how I would have to describe my weekend. My oldest computer is now running like a charm (thanks Patti!); not done yet though...............and I have 2 out of 4 computer projects (that have been laying around here for weeks) DONE! On the down side though; I found out my stepson is now on his way to northern Iraq. Please keep him and all the troops in your prayers................there is power in prayer.

Monday Madness begins at midnight, March 31st (just 40 minutes from now.) Still looking for a webring to join. I don't plan on starting one; got enough things going on right now. If you come across an appropriate webring, share it with me please. Maybe it'll soon become a member of BlogSnob. I'll have to check that out. Blogger Seeds seems to be getting some traffic. We watched yesterday's episode of Survivor tonight. Glad of the results; still upset that some women think they have to lower themselves to stripping in order to get what they want. There is nothing ladylike about that at all. If those two women get voted off next, I won't be disappointed (but still glad the one that was voted off this week is gone.) I think my lack of sleep is catching up to me. I have no good reason for not going to bed earlier; just sometimes I don't sit down at the computer until 11:00 or later. Well, tomorrow is Friday and I have a couple of appointments, but other than that, quite an easy day. I'll probably finish up a couple of projects that I have sitting on my desk waiting to be done. One of them has to be done by Saturday; two by Monday; the fourth "whenever." Anybody who knows me should know better than to not give me a deadline....a SPECIFIC deadline date or it may just be "whenever" by the time I get to it. Earlier today I was reading some "100 Things About Me" pages that people have written. They're kind of interesting but I'm not sure I want to attempt that one. I don't know if I could write 100 things about me. Maybe once I got going.......... Well, it's before midnight and I'm actually calling it a night. I guess there's one thing about me; I stay up too late. 99 more to go................

Number One Annoying Commercial!

Herbal Essence Shampoo..............can you believe how that women makes such noises when she's washing her hair with that stuff? It's disgusting! Do we have to turn the channel from commercials now? Should we be giving them a rating? The noises alone are to me, obscene. I take my shower and wash my hair only because I have to for good hygiene. (Plus it helps wake me up in the morning.) I've never known anyone to get that much "joy" from washing their hair. I will never buy Herbal Essence Shampoo because of that commercial. There. I said it. I feel much better. By the way, I got the idea to blog about this from Blogger Seeds' "suggested blog topics."

WHY do I stay up so late??? I've been wanting to blog about a commercial that annoys me to no end.............tomorrow. That IS one of our suggested blog topics on bloggerseeds; "annoying commercials." I didn't even watch Survivor tonight. I taped it though so I better not watch or listen to any tv or radio tomorrow until I watch it. Sounds really stupid, doesn't it? I just spent a good portion of the weekend on my computer. Well, yesterday we were at my sister's house cropping and visiting. It was a lot of fun! I hope the whole "gang" will be able to attend the overnighter she's planning for April. I went to the library today and found out that you can rent dvd's for $1.00 and you get to keep them for 3 days. That's cheaper than a video place. Of course the selection is more limited, but I grabbed a couple. I also found a book that looked pretty interesting. I think I have that for a month. Good thing too, because I'm half-way through "The Cat Who Went Up the Creek." I answered a lot of questions from various sites and posted them on my other blog. Pretty interesting.................Maybe I'll make a permanent link to my other blog and put it here, you know, over to the left where all the other links are. Hey, have you checked out Blogger Seeds yet? Go click on the little blinkie over there! At a loss for what to blog about? You'll find a list of topics at Blogger Seeds! "Please enter your passcode." I DON'T HAVE A PASSCODE!!!! There, I said it. I cannot access my voicemail on my cell phone because I never set up a passcode. When I enter the "default" passcode/password, it says, "Sorry, that is not a valid passcode." I did set up voicemail on the second phone I had. (The first one wasn't working properly, and as it turns out, neither was the second one.) So, I think my third one (the one I'm currently using) is working properly. Now I have to call Sprint one more time to ask them what my passcode is..............how dumb is that going to make me sound? I don't care; that's what they're there for. I must say, every Sprint PCS customer support rep. that I've spoken to so far has been very helpful and very polite. You don't get the impression from them that they are only doing this job because it's 'just their job.' Tomorrow I will be on the phone to Sprint and hopefully I'll be able to get this worked out. By the way, current mood is frustrated.

"Bulk Mail"
I just deleted 45 messages from my bulk mail and that was only one day's worth. Does anybody really ever open any of that junk??? Can you imagine getting 45 pieces of bulk mail in your "snail mail" mailbox every single day??? Why do those companies bother sending out mail to people who NEVER respond to their ads; and sometimes I'm "blessed" with TWO of the same thing!! Oh, I've tried opening the mail so I could scroll down to the bottom of the message and click on "click here to unsubscribe." Don't do it!! It only puts you on MORE junk mail mailing lists. So I will continue to click on each and every message (just in case a real message got accidentally sent to my bulk mail) and clicking on "delete." If you happent to have any working solutions to this problem, please send them my way. I'd love to know. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

GEEZE!!! I spelled Grumbleeze wrong! (I fixed it.) I have to put somewhere on here in an obvious place that you can find links to fellow bloggers down toward the lower left-hand column.

Well, I promised someone I was going to blog about not eating meat on Fridays during Lent. The reason I don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent? Because as Catholics, we have been taught to sacrifice during Lent. After all, Jesus did sacrifice his life for us, right? I figure it's the least I can do. To be quite honest with you, I don't eat meat every day anyway. So now I'm wondering if that's really a sacrifice. But not only do I not eat meat on Fridays, I try to watch what I eat, not eat between meals (That's really the biggest sacrifice!), and to eat everything I've put on my plate. I know; I sound like a 5-year old. My daughter tells me "Mom, do you know how many people would be grateful to have that piece of bread you just threw away????" I don't waste much food; don't get me wrong. Sometimes I just think I'm hungrier than I am. Thought I'd have something really profound to say? (Profound?? Me?? Have you read my archives??)

I was on my way home today when I thought about adding a "pet peeve" list to my blog. We'll see how long it takes to fill up a page. Or maybe there's a better place to do that sort of thing.........gotta check with my "bloggoddess."

"Treat your friends like family and your family like friends." (a quote I saw earlier today in a classroom) Now that I'm older this saying doesn't hold the same meaning as it would if I were a kid. I think I treat my family with the utmost respect and love; but that may not have always been true. That doesn't mean that I didn't always love them. I think we sometimes tend to take our family for granted, but do we take our friends for granted? Let's think about it. Kids treat their friends as if they mean everything to them, but their family (especially parents) are often treated as if they could care less if we were in their lives or not. I, as a parent, know this is not true (although sometimes I have to take some serious time to convince myself of this fact.) Us parents don't really know what's right for our kids, we never listen, we're always "harping' on them about something, and then there's those rules. Rules, rules, rules. To a kid (especially a teenager) this can get old real fast and what is the natural reaction? Negative, for sure. And if they have siblings (like I do) oh, they just get in the way; always getting you in trouble, tattling, "making fun of you", and so on and so on. Who do kids turn to when they've had it up to here with their family? Their friends, of course. Thank God (and more importantly, our parents) that we do grow up! We realize that without all those "silly" rules, we may not be capable of making good decisions, without all the "harping" and nagging, we would NOT know right from wrong. Oh, parents do that because they care about us? Because they love us? Only a matter of time kids, you too will thank your parents for setting limits, making rules, caring enough to take the time and effort to teach you right from wrong. And while you're at it, thank your siblings for being there when you needed someone to talk to (and it was too late to call a friend), or when you wanted to play a game and even though they didn't really want to, they did, and for caring enough about you TO tattle on you when you did something wrong. I thank my family for all of these things and a lot more. And you know what? Somewhere along the way, you realize that your family ARE your friends; the best friends you could ever have.

"PayPal"
It's one way to make money I guess, but I see that on more and more sites that I visit, and personally, I think it stinks. A lot of the sites I see PayPal on are graphics sites. I think these people started a website because they love to do what they do. They make mouse-drawn graphics., blinkies, layouts, dollz, etc., and a lot of them are writing "how to" tutorials. I just wonder if they started doing this with the intent to make money or if it's just become so popular to try to get people to donate to their site because they spend a lot of time making these things, that they figure, "Why not? If I can just get a dollar here and a dollar there........" Personally, I will learn how to do it myself before I pay someone else to do it for me (if I want it that bad.) I know it takes a lot of time to create websites and keep them updated. I have a website of my own and I'm in the process of changing all my backgrounds, buttons, bars, ets, to only those that I've created (whether it be with photos that I've taken with my digital camera, or things I've drawn using computer programs.) But I do it because it's something I enjoy.........not to make money.

On another note: I wished my Mom a happy birthday today because she turned 39 again!! Yeah for her! I also read my sister's blog and found out that she was in a car accident today. I know she's ok because she blogged about what she did when she got home. Thank God! It was a day with a lot of ups and downs. I attended a funeral for a friend of mine and that is never easy. But tomorrow will bring new things and we will get through it. (I must go get some zzzzzzzzzzz's) I want to be wide awake for whatever tomorrow does bring.

I am now an official member of BlogSnob. Yeah! It's a gloomy day....but hey, it's Saturday. How can we complain? Gotta do a few things this morning before I can settle in and really enjoy my day. Not much to say really............but how long can that last? I'll be back!

It's 9:00 a.m. and I already put 3 hours of work in today!!! I'm NOT a morning person, but there's work that I have to do when the office is closed (no distractions) and 6:00 a.m. is the best time to go in and do it. So I (not a morning person) got up at 5:30 a.m. and was in the office by 6. Yeah for me! I re-signed up for BlogSnob because apparently they never received my first request to be accepted as a member. I figure it'll be about a week or so before I'm officially accepted. I'll try to add Michigan Weblogs to my template again today. Yesterday I didn't really do anything on here because it was a very busy day. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. (I've been doing that a lot lately.) Later..........

I'm trying to add a link to Michigan Weblogs to the left; it won't publish. I'll try again later. Just that one of the rules before you can get accepted into this webring is that you have to have the link on your page (makes sense.) (I'm going to change my mood.)
